Join us in Portugal for Ferment Academia — a five-day residential celebration of fermentation, food culture, and community.

This inaugural gathering brings together leading fermenters, researchers, and educators from around the world, led by Sandor Ellix Katz, author of Wild Fermentation and The Art of Fermentation, and a pioneer of the global fermentation movement.

Set in the serene Alentejo region — known for its fertile land, slow pace, and rich culinary traditions — the programme is hosted by Paula Neubauer (founder of Get Pickled Somerset and Ferment Academia). Expect hands-on workshops, tastings, discussions, shared meals, and a vibrant exchange of microbial wisdom from diverse perspectives.

Together with Sandor, you will also earn from Payal Shah, Pao Liu, Katsu Lask, Rodri Rodríguez, Melanie McIntosh, Jo Webster and myself.
